Synopsis
Down-on-his-luck con man, Anschel Zindler (Ron Orbach), arrives in 1924 Toronto hoping to change his luck. Teaming up with Francis X. Moran (Bryan Cranston), the chauffeur to wealthy Yakov Rosenthal (Edward Asner), who is in Muskoka on vacation with his family. Taking advantage of Rosenthal's absence, Moran installs Zindler and his bag of tricks inside the house on Cecil Street. With the addition of stranded Yiddish theatre actress Shayndel Levy (Joanna Rubiner), the trio embarks on a series of confidence schemes involving Rosenthal's immigrant neighbors. When Moran steps outside the boundaries of Spadina Avenue and tries to hoodwink a wealthy Rosedale widow, it spells disaster for all concerned.
