Synopsis

As a bodyguard at the BKA, Helen Schilling is responsible for the security of the controversial Minister of Economics and Environment Richard Bauer at a press event. When Bauer suffers a seizure in front of the journalists, it quickly becomes clear: the minister was the victim of a targeted attack. In the course of the investigation, Helen becomes involved in a highly explosive plot, behind which a war for the dominance of future genetic research and its ethical limits is unfolding. Helen is also under pressure in her private life: like her younger sister Paula, she suffers from a genetically inheritable, fatal disease. In order to fulfill her long-held wish for a healthy child, she decides to undergo illegal germline therapy abroad. Her husband Cem had surprisingly received the offer from the international luminary in the field of genetic optimization, Dr. Wöllner - almost too good to be true. Shortly afterwards, events come to a head. Who is using Helen as a pawn in a sophisticated plan?
