Synopsis
Berlin around 1880: the city is growing. People are also caught up in the maelstrom of time. Some make a fortune, others stay at the bottom. One man who wants to get to the top is beer driver Koblank. But his friend and colleague Neumann takes a critical view of Koblank's aspirations when he wants to rise through marriage.
